Research area and interests
We use microfabrication techniques and microfluidics to develop technologies
that can be applied for biosensing, in-vitro diagnostics and on-site detection
of pathogens.
Research interests and current projects:
1) Sample preparation and pre-processing
- On-site DNA and RNA extraction from pathogens using disposable devices
2) Enabling technologies for low cost, portable microfluidics
- Developing nonelectric, portable fluid delivery system
3.
Students for recruitment
Openings: 1 Master student or 1 PhD student.
Major: Students with Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry or Mechanical
engineering background.
Preference: Students who have experience on microfabrication, bacteria culture
or cell culture is preferred. Students who are familiar with rapid prototyping
(i.e. 3D printer, laser cutter, CNC), and making simple electronic devices
using Arduino or Raspberry Pi and coding is also welcome.
4.
Salary, incentives and supports
ABML is funded by National Research Foundation of Korea as well as BK21 FOUR and
students will be financially supported.
Incentives will be given based on student’s outputs and journal publications.
