The Plasma Experiments and Device Application Lab (PEDAL) at the Department of Quantum System Engineering, Jeonbuk National University seeks Postdoctoral Research Associate applicants with backgrounds in plasma spectroscopy with optical emission and absorption spectroscopic methods in low pressure processing plasmas. The position requires the ability to carry out externally funded research on plasma spectroscopy and plasma-surface interactions related to semiconductor processing. The research project will be proceeded for 6 years (3+3) and the position can be extended based on annual contract. The expected starting date is Feb 2021 but based on the business needs of the organization. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. 

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and perform advanced plasma spectroscopy using OES and OAS

  • Perform research activities including setting up spectroscopic system and providing periodic reports

  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of research projects

  • Present research results through reports, technology demonstrations, conference presentations, and the publication of scientific papers, where warranted and desired

  • Assume additional appropriate related research duties to further the mission of the Institute

     

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in applied science, chemical, electrical or plasma engineering disciplines

  • Experience in experimental building plasma source, vacuum and optical system.

  • Strong background in basic plasma and plasma spectroscopy

  • Strong background in the validation of simulation results and uncertainty quantification

  • Demonstrated proficiency in all forms of communication, along with solid time management, teamwork, and organizational skills

     

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of collisional-radiative modeling

  • Demonstrated knowledge of reaction engineering and chemical kinetics modeling

  • Experience with numerical methods, sensitivity analysis, optimization, or statistics

  • Publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conference presentations and/or patents
